Passer flamenco – Extremadura, Spain

Don’t look it up, because you won’t find the Passer flamenco in your Spanish or European bird guide.

When photographing birds in Spain, a sparrow landed in front of my hide and started a beautiful flamenco dance. Sin canto, sin toque y sin palmas; no singing, no guitar and no hand clapping.

For this solo performance, I gave her the name Passer flamenco or Flamenco sparrow.

  1. Yes, good to see you again, Philip! I’m an ex-birdwatcher but, quite apart from that bias, I very much like this image – wonderful movement, and the processing is excellent too. Adrian
